As beautiful and vibrant a place as Brevard County is, we are all aware of the challenges many residents face on a daily basis. The needs are varied. From homelessness to schools looking for classroom volunteers; displaced children in need of a loving foster home to the ongoing opioid crisis; or entire neighborhoods seeking to revitalize their community or provide positive alternatives to at-risk youth. These are the daily realities many people face.

The good news is that our churches are filled with loving believers who can make a difference. They are just waiting for someone to give them an opportunity. In response to the great need and the opportunities to serve, CityFest is launching an amazing CityServe campaign to touch many of these needs throughout the region. On September 16 at 8:30am we are asking you to join us as an amazing team of speakers give short “Ted Talk” styled presentations highlighting the challenges in each of these areas as well as the opportunities to make a difference.

Speakers during the morning gathering:

  • School Partnerships | Dr. Mark Mullins (Superintendent of Schools, Brevard County)

  • Homelessness / Hunger | Dr. Jeffrey Njus (Executive Director, Daily Bread Inc)

  • At Risk Families / Neighborhood Revitalization | Pastor Jarvis Wash (The R.E.A.L. Church), Lynn Brockwell-Carey (Executive Director, Neighbor Up Brevard)

  • Mental Health / Opioid Crisis | Randy Mortensen (President, World Wide Village)

  • Foster Care / Adoption | Phil Scarpelli (CEO, Brevard Family Partnerships)

Each presentation will be followed by real-time local examples of church engagement. Immediately following this compelling presentation a series of breakout sessions by teams who actively address these challenges on a regular basis will take you deeper into best practices, available training and opportunities for collaboration.

This opportunity is free and open to every church. Our hope is to inform and inspire anyone who has a heart to serve or is looking to expand what their congregation is already doing. Pastors, church staff, elders, or anyone in your congregation who is eager to serve their community is invited.
